10. You Can Race in A Hired Lamborghini

9. Chrysler and Lamborghini

Chrysler bought Lamborghini back in 1987 and played around with design, finally designing a 4-door Lambo named Portofino. It never made it to the production phase, however, Chrysler used those design ‘moves’ to create Intrepid.

Ferruccio was born on 28th April and thus was a Taurus which is why the Lamborghinis are named after bulls.

6. In the late 1960s, if you didn’t own a Miura, you were nobody.

As Frank Sinatra famously said, “You buy a Ferrari when you want to be somebody. You buy a Lamborghini when you are somebody.”

5. First Lamborghini designed by the guy who builds IndyCars now!

Gian Paolo Dallara later on launched his own firm that builds all of the IndyCars’ chassis now.

4. The first Lamborghini was engine-less!

When 350GTV was launched, it wasn’t finished and during its unveiling at the Turin Auto Show, it didn’t have an engine so the team simply placed some bricks instead of engine and kept the hood shut during the entire time.

3. Lamborghini was founded because Ferrari was being mean!

Ferruccio owned a Ferrari 250GT and he took for service to the Maranello headquarters once he realized that the clutch was identical to the one being used by his production line. He asked Enzo Ferrari for replacement to which he replied, “You’re just a silly tractor manufacturer, how could you possibly know anything about sports cars?” Mr. Ferruccio spat on the floor – red blooded Italian – and walked out of there. He ended up designing his own sports car and 4 months later released Lamborghini 350GTV.

2. The first Lamborghinis were tractors, and they’re still made today..

He made use of WWII experience when he came back and started putting together tractors by using spare parts. The tractors soon became famous and the business grew exponentially. The tractors are still being made and range between $30,000 and $300,000.

1. Ferruccio Lamborghini – Actual Tony Stark

Mr. Ferruccio was posted on the secluded island of Rhodes during World War II and was working as a vehicle maintenance supervisor under the Italian Royal Air Force. He soon gained reputation as an expert mechanic and an enthusiastic tinkerer.

Bonus: Aventador design

As per a chief designer from the design team of Aventador, the inspiration was taken from an F22, F35, B2 and ‘those shiny green jagged-leg beetles that smell bad when you step on them’.
